Food Drive

Food drive support for local families

Food drive donations help ensure that children, adults, and elders do not have to choose between nutrition and other basic needs. Together, we can reduce hunger that often hides behind closed doors in our communities.

What the food drive supports

Nourishing families during hard seasons

Food drive funds are used to purchase and distribute culturally familiar, nutritious items for families facing food insecurity. Support may reach new immigrants, low wage workers, and those experiencing sudden financial shocks. When possible, distribution is coordinated with clinics and community events so people can access both health services and food in the same setting. This approach respects dignity and recognizes how closely nutrition and health are connected.

How the food drive works

Collection, coordination, and distribution

Worry Free Community gathers contributions in the form of funds and sometimes nonperishable items, depending on the specific drive. Staff and volunteers then coordinate purchasing, packing, and distribution in partnership with local organizations and congregations. Care is taken to match items with community preferences and household needs. Regular updates show donors how food drive support has been used across neighborhoods.

Ways to support the food drive

Giving, organizing, and spreading the word

You can contribute directly, organize collection efforts, or help share information with your networks. Each role helps keep the food drive strong.

  • Make a financial gift for bulk food purchasing.
  • Host a collection at your congregation, school, or workplace.
  • Volunteer with sorting, packing, or distribution.

Why your food drive support matters

Keeping hunger from standing in the way of health

Food insecurity can quietly undermine health, energy, and emotional wellbeing, especially for children and older adults. By supporting the food drive, you help remove one of the most basic barriers families face. This support also communicates that no one has to struggle in isolation, even when times are hard. Together, we can make sure that empty cupboards do not stand in the way of dignity and healing.

Food Drive Goals

Over time, we want every family who turns to us to have reliable access to nourishing, culturally familiar food during hard seasons.

In 2026, we are working to raise $50,000 for food drive efforts so we can reach more households across Chicagoland.
